The Habit of Creativity Psychological studies show that creativity is a habit just like all other habits. It only stands to reason then that coming up with ideas is also a habit due to the fact that much of idea generation lies in the knowledge of creativity. Please notice that I did not say being creative. I said knowledge of creativity. Hopefully this let’s you off the hook and empowers you. You do not need to be a genius or artist to be creative. Actually one great way to be an Idea Master is to be an imitator. Imitation is one of the 6 I’s of the creativity cycle. This is not about copy-catting. This more about modeling another’s behaviour. Let me explain it this way, learn the habits of those who have an endless flow of ideas and you’ll easily adapt the habit as one of your own. So, how do you develop a creative mind and become idea prone? Here’s a very rudimentary example that you may like to practice with… Word Association Games We’ll start with a theme, let’s say ‘horses’ (because that’s what’s on my mind right now). As soon as I see the word horses I come up with many other thought streams (as I’m sure you do). “riding, grooming, gait, canter, trot, pet, pony, saddle, nuzzle, paint, mustang, stallion…” You might have had many of the same as mine. Those word associations are nothing more than a marketer’s toolbox of potential keywords. What I do next with those keywords is where being idea prone comes into play. This could potentially lead me to my next venue for ebook income! I usually start sweating at the palms at this point as I do a little online research to come up with a product idea that solves the horse market’s problem. But that’s not all…I also will need to know and consider the other 5 I’s, well only 4 really because the last I in the creative cycle is Idea Generation and Development. If you’re wondering what the heck I’m talking about mark off the first week of July. That when Joe and I will be releasing our new book on being idea prone! Filed under: Recent Posts Comments: None |

Be An Idea Master and Set Yourself Apart! A recent study states that more than 50,000,000 registered domains now exist (http://www.whois.sc/internet-statistics). Let’s assume that 30% are personal or non-commercial websites set up for friends and family to connect. The commerical side of the internet is loaded with competition! That leaves over 35 million websites vying for visitors, sales, subscribers. Each one trying to sell their own product line or refer a product for affiliate income. Some are loaded with valuable content, others are not. How will you set yourself, your site or your products apart from so many others? How will you get the sales, create brand awareness, provide value to your visitors? One idea is to be a trend setter, an early adopter. If you can’t swing that, then you’ve got to be an Idea Master - a person who can shed new ideas on existing product usage or come up with new ideas on a moment’s notice.
But times are changing! Don’t worry, ebooks are still hot and should remain so for a long time coming. Just the tone of the info-product has changed. Problem-solving ebooks (as opposed to information ebooks) are on the rise. Product categories range from the very personal - dating, health, relationships, etc. - to those with a business focus (marketing, sales, promotions). Now is the time to meet the market that is looking for solutions and make yourself a killing in the process, but where will you come up with these ideas? This is where becoming idea prone comes into the picture… The solution lies in one aspect of creativity now known as being idea prone. I don’t like to use the word creative, creative imaging, or creative anything for that matter, because most people don’t believe that they are creative. As a matter of fact most of us somehow got it into our brains early in life that creativity is restricted to artists and genius. If that’s you, then sleep easy for a few weeks. Joe Vitale and I are about to launch a new problem solving solution to help someone with pre-conceived notions about their ability to come up with ideas, understand exactly what it takes to become Idea Prone and to recognize that you already have many of these talents locked somewhere within.
