Ideas in General
Posted on 02.28.05 by Laura @ 11:38 pm

Ideas are a lot like snowflakes in Canada.

Once one comes, many more follow.

When they start flowing get your pen moving! They can come so fast and furiously you may not have a moment to remember the next one as you’re jotting down the previous one.

And, if you can’t write them out fast enough how well do you think you’ll do at remembering them?

So simply recording the alterations of the original idea will help you. After 45 minutes to an hour of simply throwing around ideas, make a conscious decision to take a break, walk away, move onto something else.

You’ll likely find that little pieces of the idea keep popping back into your conscious mind as your unconscious continues to work on the problem.

What to do when ideas aren’t flowing…

If you have a ‘starter’ idea, run with it for a while. Think about your idea, add to it. Even if you think the idea is silly or worthless, move it around, shake it up, paint it red, whatever. Seeing that first idea in a different way or light will move you onto another idea, a new perspective.

It won’t be long before you’ll have a few ideas, the creative juices are running with your idea painted red, your idea upside down and so on. That’s when the ideas just start rolling. And as each one seems to fall from the sky, as your pen is scribbling across the page trying to keep up, you’ll then find you have a number of ideas to select from.

Yes, your best idea so far may still require work. Or your best may still be locked inside you. When you tire of the exercise, hand it all over to your unconscious mind and find something else to keep your brain distracted and away from idea generation.

If this isn’t happening in the next 14 hours and your idea isn’t mutating or getting better then it’s time to reenergize - read up on your subject, take an object similar to your subject and work with it, play with it, taste it, or take to the streets and ask people what they think about it.

Coming Up with Info Product Ideas
Posted on 02.23.05 by Laura @ 9:16 am

A lot of people these days have been hearing the buzz about ‘niche marketing’. Specifically writing information products for niche markets. And they’re struggling for ideas on how to become the next info-product millionaire.

Why? We’ve been told by many that selling information products online is the newest, fastest way to get rich quick.

If you’re on a high about this, I don’t mean to burst your bubble.

Just ask any highly paid online entrepreneur and they will tell you:

  • It isn’t ‘easy street’.
  • It isn’t for everybody.
  • It doesn’t happen overnight.

Yes, you can enjoy decent success relatively quickly.

You will get very excited when you make your first sale.

You will jump for joy when you get up on Saturday morning and discover you made a cool $300 in your sleep.

And you’ll dream of the day when you can lose the suits and the commutes.

Getting to the day of that first online sale is an uphill battle for many and for many reasons.

One is self sabotage.

I recently read a book by Dr. Joe Vitale and Dr. Larina Kase titled “How to End Self Sabotage“.

I don’t even really know why it intrigued me enough to want to read it. I personally didn’t think I needed something like this, or that I even needed to be aware of self-sabotage.

I even asked a few of my friends “Do you think I block myself to the higher possibilities to my life?”

Each one of them laughed and said I was the most determined, hard working person they knew. (Now that title doesn’t really mean as much as you’d think - we live in a community of under 500.)

Perhaps my inner self was trying to tell me something. Because I did read it. Twice!

You know what? Head over to that site right now because there is a free quiz. See if your ‘inner self’ is trying to tell you something. Let me know (leave a comment to this post) how the quiz, and the page, ’spoke’ to you.

How to End Self Sabotage speaks mainly to the aspiring ebook author, but we self-sabotage unconsciously in many areas of our lives! Love, family, career - and applying the knowledge of this book will help all areas of your life. When you’re on the page, click through to check out the price. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I’ve digressed off topic here, but tomorrow I’ll be back with some Idea Kickstarts on coming up with great ideas for the information product creators out there.

I just wanted to make sure you were ‘un-blocked’ and relieved of your self-sabotage first. :)
